1. Stay local!

Speak to your neighbours and local friends, they'll likely be able to recommend a tradesperson nearby. In turn, your tradesperson may be able to put you in touch with other labourers and suppliers who are on your doorstep too. As they say, it's who you know. Plus, a local tradesman may have more knowledge and experience in how to navigate planning permission in your area. Win, win!

2. Seek a specialist!

Jack of ALL trades…master of none! Hiring tradespersons who are experienced specialists in their field is a no-brainer, so make sure anyone you take on is equipped with all the relevant qualifications and accreditations for that specific job.

3. Research, research, research!

Good or bad, people will share their experiences with local tradespersons online through the likes of CheckATrade, so it’s well worth hearing what they have to say, before you make any decision. A fancy website or snazzy van can be decieving but reviews talk.
