Spruce Up Your Shed This Summer!

Jun, 24
By Real Deals For You

Sheds are sacred spaces. But after a long cold winter, these treasured little shelters can look a little worse for wear, as well as become a dumping ground for all the sun chairs and sprinklers you just haven’t had use for up until now. If your sorry shed is now worthy of shed-ding a tear (!), here’s a few tips for how to get yours summer ready.

Spring clean

Wait for a dry day before stripping the contents of your shed into the garden to get a good look at what’s worth keeping. A lot of space may be occupied by things you no longer want or need, so decide what you want to save, keeping the tools you’ll use most often closer to hand - and the rest further back. Installing some easy storage solutions, such as a few shelves to house your paint pots or hooks to hang your garden rake, is also a good idea. And don’t forget to dust off the cobwebs too!

Lick of paint

British weather can take its toll, leaving wood warped and weakened from the constant rainy days. We’d recommend giving your shed a coat of paint that contains a wood preservative at least once a year – and if you’re feeling really brave, why not add a pop of colour, ready to brighten up your mood when gloomy winter rolls around once more?

Time to upgrade

Your shed can be so much more than just your go-to garden junkyard – in fact, hooking your shed up to the electric means the possibilities are endless for where you could take it. Fully functional workshop space, complete with all your top power tools? Heated summer house for use, beyond just the warmer months? Much-needed bolthole, loaded with beers in your very own mini fridge? Whatever you desire, you can make your shed supreme.

All this talk of sheds, we want to see yours! Tag us in your best shed pics over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to show off what stands yours apart.
